Comparison with existing systems
A factual side-by-side view along seven criteria, based on public information from vendors and third parties.
How to read the table:
- Every statement about another system links to a source, retrieved on 11 October 2026.
- Where we found nothing public, the cell says “no public information”. That does not mean the feature is missing.
- The FutureDataHub column states the status: built means finished and tested in the test environment, with the pilot still pending; planned means not built yet. See the roadmap for details.
If something is missing or out of date, write to info@web-crossing.com and we will correct it.
| Criterion | FutureDataHub (status) | dataCycle / BayernCloud Tourismus | ThüCAT | destination.one | feratel (Deskline, open.datahub) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| License and openness | Planned: core open source under AGPL-3.0 (license model under legal review). | Lists “open source software” as an advantage, without naming a license.[1] | According to a secondary source, the data is under an open license.[2] | The open data portal calls the data “freely available”; a partner portal lists CC BY and CC BY-SA.[3][4] | open.datahub: per feratel, data is labelled “copyright-free”; no license named.[5][6] |
| Connecting new sources | Built: every source as its own connector container following the Airbyte protocol, nine connectors in the code; four are tested with test data, five await source access. | Data is imported via interfaces and delivered to websites and apps.[1] | Documented: base data API, data schemas, web components, Api-Sync.[7] | Output as JSON-LD (schema.org, ODTA), CSV, XML, GeoJSON; access via API or widget.[4] | open.datahub offers a developer interface and HTML widgets.[5][6] |
| Isolation (tenants, connectors) | Built: tenant hierarchy with row level security, isolated connectors. | no public information | no public information | no public information | no public information |
| AI in the core | Built: embeddings, hybrid search, answers with citations. Planned: quality score. | no public information | Semantic markup is meant to make the data usable for AI such as voice assistants.[2] | The vendor lists “one.intelligence” with an AI wizard for text generation.[8] | According to a press article, Deskline uses an AI service for translations and image descriptions.[9] |
| MCP and agent interface | Built: MCP server with the same permissions as the read API. | BayernTourismus publishes an MCP server for the BayernCloud API as a proof of concept (MIT).[10] | no public information | no public information | no public information |
| Editorial interface | Built: editing of events and POIs with approval, mixed operation with feratel. | Content can be created directly; a mechanism exists for correcting faulty content.[1] | DMO editors maintain the base data; webinars and a ticket system are listed.[7] | no public information | Per feratel, Deskline covers information and address management; event management is listed.[11][12] |
| Hosting and data sovereignty | Self-hosting (Docker Compose) or operation in a data centre in Innsbruck. | no public information | no public information | no public information | Per the data centre operator, Deskline runs geo-redundantly in the Maxglan and Hallein data centres.[11] |
